Illness and School
Guidelines to remember when your child is returning to school following an illness:
- 24 hours fever (100.5 degrees) free without the use of fever reducer medications (tylenol/acetaminophen/ibuprofen/motrin)
- 24 hours free of diarrhea and/or vomiting
- 24 hours after starting antibiotics for strep throat or pink eye
- uncontrolled/continuous coughing or sneezing
Please use your best judgment when your student is not feeling well. Sending kids to school when they are ill increases the risk of infecting other students and staff.
Lice is a continuous issue that students cannot be excluded for, the best way to keep them from spreading is to catch them early. Some things you can do in your home are weekly lice checks and use preventative shampoos (products containing tea tree oil).
