Teacher Spotlight - Mrs. Rachel Vaughn

In this spotlight we will recognize Mrs. Rachel Vaughn, Ms. Rachel to the preschoolers.  She celebrates her birthday on November 24th.  Her family consists of her husband, Jeremy, children, Tyra, who is 14, Tayten, who is 11, Taylynn, who is 3 and Tensley, who will be 2 in December.  They also have a dog, Zyah and a cat, Mittens aka Mitters to round out their family.

She earned her Bachelor's Degree at Buena Vista University and her Master's Degree at the University of South Dakota.  She is in her 11th year of teaching all subjects to the Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education Preschool students.  She believes her students would be surprised to find out that sometimes she is very quiet/shy depending on the situation.

Her favorite thing to do for fun is water and amusement parks.

Some of her favorites are:

  • All colors because they are all beautiful.  She has never really had a favorite color!
  • She shared, "Does chocolate count as food?! - because even if I am  not hungry I have a hard time passing up something chocolate."
  • Book-she enjoys reading uplifting books and also books that expand her thinking as an educator.  She is currently reading "The End of Average" by Todd Rose.
  • Movie is "Step Brothers."
  • Song is 90's R & B.
  • Sport is whichever her own children are involved with at the time.
  • Sport teams are the Steelers and the Wolverines!!!

Her best thing about teaching is finding out what each child's individual strengths are and using that knowledge to help them move toward mastery in all areas of early childhood development.

Mrs. Vaughn (Ms. Rachel), thank you for all that you do!
