Teacher Spotlight - Mrs. Mary Trudeau

Teaching students that they are capable of learning and doing great things is Mrs. Mary Trudeau.  She celebrates her birthday on March 11th and was born in 1992.  Her family consists of husband, Austin and sons, Jonah (3), Evan (6 months) and Isaac (6 months).  She does not have any pets because she has three boys and that's all the "pets" that she can handle right now.

She obtained her teaching degree at Iowa State University.  She is in her 5th year of teaching full time but subbed for two years before that, all at River Valley.  She teaches Family and Consumer Sciences (the new name for Home Ec.) to the 7th - 12th grade students.  She believes her students would be surprised to find out that she doesn't always eat healthy food at home!  They all think she is only making healthy meals but she enjoys junk food as much as they do!

Her favorite thing to do for fun is going on walks with her family.

Some of her favorites are:

  • The color purple.
  • Food is pizza.
  • Book is the entire "Harry Potter Series."
  • Movie is "Grease."
  • Sport is football.
  • Sports team is Iowa State Cyclones!

Her exceptional thing about teaching is she enjoys getting to share her passion for her content area with her students.

She adds, "I'm really a very laid-back person but I'm also a rule follower so that might make me seem a little crazy!"

Mrs. Trudeau, thank you for all that you do!
