Teacher Spotlight-Mrs. Margaret Witt

On the front lines of education is Mrs. Margaret Anne Witt.  She was born in 1964 and likes to celebrate on January 29th.  Joining her in her family is her husband, Tom and her son, Chris.  Also included in their family is their Shih Tzu named Maya.

She received her teaching degree at William Penn University, Oskaloosa, Iowa.  She is in her 33rd year of teaching.  She teaches 7th grade English and High School Spanish and High School Applied English to the 9th - 12th grade students.  She believes her students would be amazed to find out that she used to go camping all of the time when she was younger, but now, staying in anything less than a three-star hotel is like roughing it.

Her favorite thing to do for entertainment is traveling and exploring new places.

Some of her favorites are:

  • The color blue because there are so many different shades of blue but her favorite is sky blue because the sky is so vast.
  • Food is pepperoni pizza.
  • Book is "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Lutrell, she usually reads fiction but this one just got to her.
  • Movie is she loves the original "Star Wars 9 Saga."  She saw the very first one in 1977 and she has never missed an opening.  She always went twice in a row;  back to back when a new one came out just so she would not miss anything.
  • Song is "Everything I Do, I Do It For You" by Bryan Adams.
  • Sport is basketball.
  • Sports team is Iowa and Iowa State basketball.

Her greatest thing about teaching is working with the kids;  no two days are ever the same.

She shares, "I have had the opportunity to travel all over our country (48 out of 50 states) but I have never been to Hawaii or Alaska . . . yet.  She grew up in Florida and went to Disney World just about every summer and I was scheduled to go again this past June with my family but Covid interrupted my plans.  So, like any loyal Disney fanatic would do, I re-scheduled my vacation to June 2021.  Hopefully, that happens.  It not, there is always 2022.

Mrs. Witt, thank you for all that you do!
