River Valley Preschool's naturalist Ms.Laura came once a month throughout the year and taught us about many different topics. She taught us about birds, spiders, hibernation, reindeer, animal tracks, animal teeth, water cycle, and about turtles. The kids really enjoyed having her. She would read us a book about that topic and would play games with us, have real animal artifacts for us to touch and see. She also sometimes had something for us to make after she was done teaching us about a topic. She made them Jr. Naturalist certificates for completing all the topics this year.

On Friday, May 8, the 5th graders graduated from STARS. They enjoyed a pizza party, a K9 demo, and even got to tour a police car! Thank you Deputy Zane for teaching us the past 5 weeks and Sgt. Troy for bringing his dog, Deacon, for us to see!

Come out tomorrow night and check out our students accomplishments! The River Valley Athletic Booster Club will be providing fried chicken, Juniors are to bring a side dish-salad, Sophomores are to bring Drinks, Freshman-Desserts 8th grade-side dish-salad 7th grade-drinks 6th grade- dessert 5th grade-you choose (Younger grades are just archery kids!!!) The River Valley Preschool has been talking about life cycles and incubated 35 eggs. We waited patiently and took rings off of our chain to count down the 21 days until hatch day. We have been also talking about other Oviparous animals such as snakes, lizards, and fish!

Attention River Valley Parents. Driver's Ed will start this year on May 27th. We have a signup in the front office for your child to sign up, and they will also bring a signup form home. These forms are due with payment by May 15th. You can turn them in at the High School office. Students must also have their permit before class starts. If you have any questions, please contact the MS/HS office.

Mrs. Richards Advanced Foods Class traveled to Kahill’s Chop and Steakhouse in South Sioux City, NE yesterday to learn more about the Hospitality and Food Service Industry. They had the privilege of touring their kitchens and event spaces, and ended the day with lunch and dessert in their riverfront restaurant.

Last week the River Valley Preschool classes held a Family Fun Art Night. Moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, and more came out to see the young artists work:). It was a great time that showcased all our preschoolers wonderful pieces of art!

This past Wednesday, RV Elementary recognized Earth Day by doing its part to spruce it up a bit:). All our grades from Prek-5 went out and about around the school and Washta to pick up trash, sticks, etc .
It was a nice day to get some fresh air and to freshen up Mother Earth:)

Today some Cherokee County 911 dispatchers visited the RV Elementary kindergarten class. They talked with students about when they should call 911 and how to do it.
We sure appreciate them coming in and educating our kiddos on such an important task!
