I am so proud to announce that the River Valley School Community School District with the help of its staff, students, and area families was able to raise over $1,500 for the Shoumaker family. We have so many kind and giving souls in our schools and communities! We continue to keep the Shoumaker family in our thoughts! Pictured are most of the students and staff that played a big role in our "Donation Day"

Last night, I was proud to attend the 2025 Cherokee County Legacy Foundation Awards Banquet. It was held at the Aurelia Community Center. I accepted a check for $5,000 dollars, with that money to be used to improve our elementary outdoor campus and learning space. Plans are in the works to involve our HS FFA to re-landscape some areas of our elementary in Washta. Thank you to Mrs. Tish Evans for taking the time to write the grant, to Mr. Glienke (pictured), and the entire CCLF board for their generous gift. We are super excited to get started!!

Good Evening, This is just a friendly reminder about our fundraiser tomorrow (Wednesday, March 26) to help raise some money for the Shoumaker family. As we now know, Norbert, Dee, and Carson Shoumaker tragically lost their lives in a recent house fire. Feel free to send a donation of any size with your child tomorrow to either the MS/HS in Correctionville or the elementary school in Washta. With that donation, they can wear a hat to school. We are also finding out that Carson Shoumaker loved flashy socks, new boots, and cool looking tennis shoes. Therefore, your child is invited to also wear some of their favorite sneakers, boots, and flashy socks. Have them make it an outfit and do your part to help the Shoumaker family. Thanks in advance for your support:)

On February 27th., The River Valley Elementary preschool held its annual Dude’s day It was welled attended and was a lot of fun! In preschool B we sang a song for them. Then we also made our “dude’s” get up and do the cha-cha slide with us . Then we showed our “dude’s” our favorite movement song. After all the singing and dancing we had donuts and juice. Then they could build with toothpicks and marshmallows with their “dude’s.” We had some pretty amazing structures made. Preschool A got our hands messy making a gooey concoction with extra glitter! We acted out a story, "If You Give a Dude a Donut", and sang a few songs. We had a good time reading some “Dad Libs” and trying to guess which child wrote this about their dad.

This week was Read Across America/Dr. Seuss Week and RV Elementary celebrated it and March itself in a number of ways. We had March Lift-off on Monday and recognized our March birthdays, KDT Kids, Students and Staffers of the Month, and also had our first annual Staff Relay Race. Our spring book fair was held too and we raised about $900 in books for our library! We had some high school students visit us as guest readers for our KDT/Big Buddy Read. Lastly, we held our Longest Fry Contest. All week students and staff could dress-up each day to add to the fun. With Mother Nature making an appearance, it was a busy, crazy, and fun way to get March started!

We currently have two weight benches that we no longer need. They are sturdy and heavy. One has a cushion (with a slight tear) and one does not have a cushion. If interested, please call the business office for more details.
