Today the RV Elementary staff decided to dress "Like a PE Teacher". Our PE teacher decided to dress "Like the Principal." I think Mrs. Reinking pulled it off!! I personally think her hairdo sealed it!

Last week our preschool classrooms hosted a "Family Fun Night". Parents were invited to spend some time with their child doing arts and crafts as well as painting pumpkins. They were also treated to a nice meal:) It was a good time had by all!

Ms. Geary had our elementary students involved in a project called, "Things That Make Me Happy". The students made some awesome artistic creations. It makes me happy just looking at all these great pictures. Great project, Ms. Geary!


We had our October edition of FRY-day and the Longest Fry Contest at RV Elementary today. We had some intense competition and in the end we had some happy winners. In the K-1 group, Russell Demarest taking second and Bryley Bond coming in first:). The winners of the 2nd-3rd graders were, Easton Yaremko in 2nd and Brayden Todd taking 1st place. Finally in the 4th and 5th grade classes, Izabella Regennitter was 2nd and Case Bolles took home 1st place. Bryley Bond had the overall longest fry. It came in at over 7 inches long! What a great way to spend a Fry-day lunch:)

In 3rd Grade, Mrs. Blosmo had a very comical, but appetizing activity. Students were supposed to write instructions on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I follow their instructions. Word by word… We had some pretty good laughs!





High School math students participating in Dordt's Math Challenge today! Students take an individual test, participate in a break-out session, and take a group test.


Earlier this week the fourth graders enjoyed making soybean necklaces, learning about how soybeans germinate and uses of soybeans. They were also educated about the fun that awaits them in 4-H by the Cherokee Co. Conservation. Looks like a great hands-on experience:)



Next Monday, Oct. 17th, starts round 1 of Regional Volleyball for our High School Lady Wolverines!! We are hosting Siouxland Christian on our home court. Game time is 7:00pm. Tickets MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE AND CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED ONLINE at https://www.gobound.com/ia/schools/rivervalley#next.

Picture Retake Day will be TOMORROW, Monday, Oct. 10th. Elementary will be 1st in the morning, followed by the Junior High/High School. If your child(ren) missed the 1st School Picture Day, they will need to have their picture taken on Monday even if you don't plan to purchase a picture package. If your child is having retakes, the entire picture package must be returned to school by Monday morning for them to have retakes. Earlier this week during RV Elementary's October Lift-Off we celebrated our October birthdays. We also drew prizes for some of our KDT kids. Prizes ranged from McDonald's treats to coupons donated by Washta's very own Rise and Grind Convenience Store. It was great way to kick off the Spookiest Month of the Year!
