It is officially feeling and looking a lot like Christmas at River Valley Elementary! Both preschool classes sent off their Santa letters. The letters will definitely make it to the North Pole and Santa on time. Each group of students is eagerly awaiting something under the tree:).

The shop class has been practicing working with metal and has this metal building completed. It is now looking for a good home outside of our shop! The building measures 10' wide by 12' deep. It has a 5' door opening with sliding doors. It does have a metal floor kit (just floor joist) that could/would be installed on site. It needs to be picked up on a calm day soon! If you would like to take it to your place and make a monetary contribution to the shop class, please call the business office.

This week is American Education Week! It is a great time to show your appreciation to all those who assist in your child's educational career. Take time to say thank you to your child's teacher, a paraprofessional, the school nurse, the secretaries, business office personnel, the custodians, bus drivers, and substitute teachers. It takes a village, and the staff at River Valley put students first and promote a healthy mind and academic growth.

The River Valley 7th Graders are sponsoring a fund-raising project to help raise money for the upcoming Washta Shoe Party in Honor of Mr. Parrott. Mrs. Witt & Ms. Verzaani will be collecting donations in the commons each morning this week. The JH classes will compete against each other and the high school classes will compete against each other to see Who is the Most Un-Scroogiest class of All. The collected funds will all be used to purchase Christmas toys for kids in our communities. Please scan the QR code on the poster for more information. Let's see what we can do to help out our families who may need a boost at this time of year! Your donation, big or small, can help put a smile on someone's face!

The MS/HS students have been celebrating World Kindness Day all week with various activities focused on expressing appreciation, creating a positive school community and increasing teamwork. Today students were encouraged to get creative with the word 'kindness', the only rule was that all students in their grade needed to be in the picture. Please 'like' your favorite pictures. The class with the greatest amount of likes will get a KDT hat or drink pass for the Friday of their choice! Go Wolverines!!

Yesterday, River Valley Elementary celebrated "World Kindness Day". Teachers and students played "Kindness Bingo" throughout the day in their classrooms. Students were often seen performing many random acts of kindness . During their guidance lessons, Ms. Geary expanded on why it's important to be kind. The students and staff did a wonderful job continuing to display River Valley KDT (Kindness, Determination, Together) during WKD. It was so heart warming and awesome to see all the blue shirts, positive/kind behavior, and camaraderie. It was such a great day:)
