Ms. Lisa Mitchell has been with RV for 10 years! She is our Special Education Teacher in the elementary building. She spent this summer traveling to Nashville and the Black Hills.
She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She is looking forward to seeing the students and watching them grow. Ms. Chauntell Geary is beginning her 7th year at RV. She is our K-12 Counselor. She enjoyed her summer by spending time with my kids as well as good friends! At the beginning of the summer, her kids and her went to visit family in Colorado for a few weeks! Like every other year, Ms. Geary is looking forward to seeing all of her students faces! She loves hearing about their summers and their goals for this school year! Her advice for the upcoming school year is as follows. "Students- my advice to you would be come into this school year with an open mind ready to learn and be kind always for you never know what someone else is going through! Parents-- we are so excited to have the students back in the buildings and I cannot wait to collaborate with you to make it the best year yet! It takes a team! Mrs. Kim Knaack has been teaching at RV for 25 years! She is one of our Kindergarten teachers! She has enjoyed the summer by being at the lakes with family and friends. She can't wait to see all the kids new and old ones. Her advice for the kids this year is to always try your best, have a good attitude and have fun! Mrs. Tanya Mallison has been teaching at RV for 6 years and is the Title 1 Reading Teacher/Interventionist. This summer she has enjoyed spending time with her family. They have loved being able to camp and swim together. She looks forward to seeing all her students and hearing about their summers. Her advice for the upcoming school year is to always encourage your students to try their best and reach out to your teachers about any concerns you have so we can address them early on. Mrs. Tonya Carstens has been teaching at RV for 21 years! She teaches 4th grade and 5th grade Social Studies. She has spent this summer enjoying her family and reading for fun. She's looking forward to seeing smiles from her new kids and past students and building some new relationships! Families and students, together we are a team! Ms Jen Rau has been teaching at RV for 3 years and teaches music and beginning band in the elementary building. This summer she has been attending UCMO! Advice for parents for the upcoming year is this. You read with your child. What if you also sang to and with them? Mrs. Molly Henshaw has been with RV 4 years and teaches Science, STEM and TAG. She is also the Middle School Student Council Sponsor. This summer she has been doing all the things! Camping, gardening, hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, and travelling (lots of travelling). She says coming back to school is like coming home after a long trip. Vacationing is great, but this time of year she really looks forward to reconnecting with her River Valley family. Her thoughts on the upcoming school year are this. The awesomeness level of this year will be determined by our attitudes. If we come back with super positive attitudes, this could be the best year yet! Mrs. Morgan Hansen has been teaching for 4 years at RV and is the 5th Grade Teacher along with 4/5 grade Math Teacher. Some of the best things she has done this summer are hanging out with her son, watching her sisters play softball and make it to state for the 4th year in a row, golfing with her husband, hanging out with our friends, and moving! She is looking forward to another great year, making memories with her “old” students and getting to know and making memories with her “new” students! Her advice for the upcoming year is help your child be responsible and accountable, and have a positive attitude! Mrs. Rachel Wassenaar (or Mrs Wazz as the kids and colleagues call her) has been with RV for 30 years! She teachers Science and STEM classes in the MS/HS. This summer she enjoyed spending time with her boyfriend and his brand new granddaughter! She is looking forward to coming back to school and seeing how much her students have grown during the summer. An excellent goal she would like to see all students/parents try to achieve is having perfect attendance at school this year! Mrs. Carly Richards has been with RV for 3 years and is the FCS (Family and Consumer Sciences) teacher in the MS/HS. She spent the summer buying a house and making renovations to it with her husband! Attention River Valley HS Football Athletes:
First, there will be a high school football players meeting on Tuesday, Aught 6 at 6:30 PM in the Kingsley-Pierson High School commons. Anyone planning to go out for high school football should plan to attend.
Also, the High School Football team will conduct a team camp on August 7th and 8th from 4-6pm. All high school football players are encouraged to attend. We will have equipment/pad handout Thursday at 6pm, following the camp.
